These frogs freeze completely when winter comes, entering a hibernation period. They actually stop their heartbeat, and thaw when spring comes..

Although there are some sites that claim to provide information or comparisons of different types of dog food, most are created and run by dog food companies and are just a marketing gimmick designed to put their particular brand in a good light in order to increase sales. If you are looking for dog food comparisons or ratings that will give you a quick answer to your question, you will no probably end up frustrated and more confused then when you started. When comparing dog foods it is important to focus your attention first on the necessary nutritional components your dog needs for optimal health and second on avoiding ingredients that could be potential health hazards.
There are several nutrients dogs need to survive and thrive. The list of essential nutrients includes:
1) amino acids (in proteins),
2) fatty acids (in fat),
3) carbohydrates,
4) minerals and
5) vitamins. As an aside, I shouldn’t neglect to mention the need for good clean water (preferably filtered). Here is a brief review discussing each of the nutrients that you should be comparing.
1) Amino Acids: There are 10 known amino acids that dogs must get from food sources since they cannot produce these amino acids on their own. Amino acids come from protein such as meat and eggs. It is interesting that dogs will often avoid eating food that has no amino acids. When reading a list of ingredients remember that quality protein comes from animal meat rather than “animal byproducts”.
2) Fatty Acids: Another element that your dog cannot create internally is fatty acid. Fatty acids are necessary to sustain your dog’s life and provide for internal functions such as transporting fat-soluble vitamins, immune system functions, cellular function, brain function, and coat and skin health.
3) Carbohydrates: While dogs get a lot of their energy (calories) from fat they also get a good amount from carbohydrates that are found in fruits, vegetables and grains in the form of glucose, fructose, starches and dietary fibers. In fact, an adult dog’s diet can include as much as fifty percent carbohydrates. (Note: Since much of the fiber provides no real nutritional value for your dog it is if no more than five percent of the total quantity comes from fiber.
4) Minerals: The essential minerals include: Calcium, Copper, Choline, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Sodium, Chlorine, Iron, Potassium, Zinc, Manganese, Selenium and Iodine.
5) Vitamins: The most important vitamins for your dog’s health are as follows: Riboflavin, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid and Folic Acid, Vitamin A, Vitamin B1 (Also known as Thiamin), Vitamin B5, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Vitamin E and Vitamin K.
These vitamins and minerals mentioned above provide the necessary nutrients for muscle contraction, nerve impulse transmission, cell signaling, enzymatic reactions and strong bones and teeth, just to name a few.
Quantities Vary Depending on Your Dogs Situation
Puppies actually need twice the calories required by an adult dog and pregnant Dogs require one-half to two-thirds more than an adult dog. The dogs with the greatest nutritional needs are nursing dogs. A nursing dog will need two to four times as many calories as a non-nursing dog. The amount they need depends on the number of puppies they are nursing and the length of time they have been nursing. The longer they nurse, the greater their nutritional need.
On the other hand, older dogs that are less active may only need 80% of the calories they consumed in middle age.
Dog Food Comparison of Quality
Ultimately, the food you choose for your dog, whether commercial, home made, or a combination, needs to contain the nutrients stated above. If the dog foods you are comparing are missing these essentials, keep looking. Once you have found the dog foods that include these essentials, you can narrow them down based on the quality and quantities of the ingredients and nutrients. It’s helpful if you can come up with a few choices in case you find one or two foods that your dog doesn’t like.

Bearded Dragon Care is easy with a little knowledge and goes a long way towards ensuring your pet remains healthy.Bearded Dragons are very docile lizards that get their name from the spiny scaled space that covers their throat. The male dragons will “puff” this area up as a sign of dominance and defense. Bearded Dragons are a fantastic choice for first time reptile owners, especially for families with young kids that are searching for a reptilian family member. Beardies are medium sized reptiles growing 18-24 inches in length. They are omnivorous creatures, which means they naturally eat plants and insects. In captivity they often do better on a vegetarian diet.
Their diet should consist mainly of calcium coated crickets, superworms, other insects, earthworms, pinky mice, dark leafy greens such as romaine, collard greens, kale, escarole, and red-leaf lettuce, and fruits & veggies such as strawberries and beans. Any food items presented to your Bearded Dragons should be no bigger than the space between their eyes.
Bearded Dragons are native to central Australia and are basically desert-dwelling lizards. Their colour varies from a dull brown or gray to straw/yellow to fiery orange-red. Bearded dragons are a very popular pet, They are extremely adaptable to different habitats, and may be found in woodland, scrubland, and grasslands.
Bearded dragons are superb pets for adults or kids, and are often used in schools as class pets. A Bearded dragon takes up less space than a dog or cat and is much cleaner. Bearded dragons are not prone to bad health but they can get worms or mites. If your animal is bleeding from a wound or internally (bloody vomit, or blood in the faeces), is paralysed, has abnormal swellings on any part of its body, it may have a broken bone, or has ingested a potentially toxic substance, get your pet to a vet right away.
Bearded Dragons are quite rare reptiles, whose astonishing biological charactaristic is their extremely long facial hair. This makes them unique among reptiles, not only due to the fact that they have hair, but also that many of them have very stylish goatees.
Bearded dragons are primarily desert dwellers. However, they do spend the hottest part of the day in relatively cool areas As with all desert creatures, too much heat may be just as dangerous as too little. During the day the temperature should range from 76 F (24 C) on the cool side to 86 F (30 C) on the warm side, with their basking area ranging from 90-100 F (32-37.7 C).
When threatened these lizards assume a defensive posture, opening their mouths and pushing their throat skin forward to make their ‘beard’. They are usually bought at a few months of age, measuring only 15 – 20 cm (6 – 8 inches). They should be alert, but fairly tame (not too docile though as these lizards tend to become tamer and slower as they age).
They are active lizards, and like to climb around. Put some sturdy angled branches or twisty grapewood into their enclosure, and you’ll probably see the dragon climbing and exploring. Bearded dragons are a diurnal basking species, and as such, need exposure to full spectrum light in order to properly synthesize vitamin D3 and for calcium absorption in the GI tract. Specifically they require light in the UVB. While their appearance is similar to iguanas, dragons tend to be more docile than iguanas and far less demanding.
Bearded Dragons are not like most reptiles you can buy at a pet store. They enjoy being handled, they eat greens along with crickets and you don’t have to feed them mice for them to get proper nutrition. Bearded dragons are commonly available at pet stores, reptile expos and breeders’ websites. Captive-bred specimens are usually recommended because they are much healthier and more acclimated to captivity than animals caught in the wild.

Taking care of your dog is probably something that is very dear to you. I know that most people who are dog owners know the unconditional love that they can show to us, sometimes much more than members of our own family, so it is a natural thing that we would want to take the best care of our dog as possible. This would include looking at things like dog food quality comparisons, and making sure that they are getting the best food possible. The problem is that you really don’t know what you are getting, even when doing a dog food quality comparison.
The facts are that dog food and food for human consumption go by two different standards. For example, if you see on the dog food package that it is chemical free, the simply means that there were no chemicals added to the product after it reached the factory for processing. Before the product got there it could be pumped full of all kinds of chemicals, steroids, and even meat from other dogs and cats. They do not need to disclose this on the dog food packages.
Another thing that most people don’t know is that, when fed properly a dog will live twice as long as the average life span of our pets. This is because the food that we are feeding them, the quality food from the pet store, is actually killing our dogs. It’s a sad situation, but one that can be corrected if you take positive action and really dig for the facts.
